Reading the Map
Colors follow the official Hatfield-McCoy difficulty system. Green is family-friendly, blue steps up in technicality, black is challenging, and double-black/red is for experts. Single-track trails are shown as dashed lines — narrower, more technical, and often ATV-only.

The Four Systems
What's What
Pocahontas
Buffalo Trail's home trailhead. The widest range of difficulty in the network — beginner-friendly loops and expert technical sections in one system.
Indian Ridge
Long ridge-top runs with big views across the coalfields. Popular for photo stops and open-throttle stretches. Blue and green trails dominate.
Pinnacle Creek
Follows the Pinnacle Creek drainage through hardwood forest, waterfalls, and technical creek crossings. Great mix of scenic and technical.
Warrior
The largest system in the network. Connects deep into the greater Hatfield-McCoy trail network for full-day and multi-day rides.
