Every Season Has Something

The Hatfield-McCoy Trail System stays open year-round. Each season brings a different kind of adventure.

Every Season, a Different Ride

The Hatfield-McCoy Trail System is open 365 days a year, and the resort operates year-round. Each season brings different trail conditions, different scenery, and a different feel to the mountain. Here's what to expect any time you visit.

🌱 Spring · March – May

Trails dry out and bloom. Creek crossings run high and fast — challenging for newer riders, exciting for experienced ones. Wildflowers line the ridges, and the whole forest wakes up. One of the best times to ride before summer heat sets in, and rates are often at their lowest.

☀️ Summer · June – August

Peak riding season. Long days, warm nights, campfire evenings. Restaurant in full swing Thursday through Saturday. Big group weekends and family reunions fill up the lodges — book early to lock in the cabins you want.

🍁 Fall · September – November

The best of all worlds. Mountain hardwoods turn gold, orange, and red. Cooler temperatures make all-day rides comfortable, and photography is unmatched. Arguably the most scenic time to visit the Hatfield-McCoy system.

❄️ Winter · December – February

Snow riding on the Hatfield-McCoy is an experience like no other. Trails stay open all winter. The resort stays cozy — every cabin heated, fire pits stocked, and the restaurant serving comfort food. Quiet trails, quieter cabins.
