The Hatfield-McCoy Trail System
600+ Miles of Trail
The Hatfield-McCoy Trail System is West Virginia's signature off-road destination, named after the legendary feud families whose rugged mountain territory now hosts some of the most spectacular ATV riding in the country. Trails span multiple counties through steep hollows, ridge lines, creek beds, and open meadows.
Buffalo Trail puts you right on the southern side of the network, with direct access to the lower systems — Pocahontas, Indian Ridge, Pinnacle Creek, and Warrior. The resort sits just 5 miles from the Pocahontas Trailhead, one of the most popular entry points into the entire system, and you can also reach the trails via State Route 71N, an ATV-friendly road directly from the resort.

Trail Systems Within Reach
- Pocahontas Trail System — 5 miles from the resort and the primary trailhead for Buffalo Trail guests. One of the largest and most versatile systems on the southern side of the network, with everything from smooth connectors to steep hill climbs and rocky sections. Ridge trails deliver some of the best views in the area.
- Indian Ridge Trail System — Connects directly with Pocahontas and offers long stretches of trail that make you feel deep in the mountains. Good riding for most of the season; watch for loose rock and steep grades in certain sections.
- Pinnacle Creek Trail System — Known for challenging, technical terrain — tight switchbacks, rocky climbs, and real elevation changes. Traction is excellent when dry, so it's a favorite for riders looking to test their skills.
- Warrior Trail System — A smaller, more relaxed system that's a great option for families. Many trails run along ridgelines with beautiful Appalachian mountain views and a fun, scenic ride.
